San Goirgio Project in Mykonos is based on longterm friendships.
26th June 2012
If the San Giorgio project in Mykonos feels like a summerhouse for a very stylish group of friends, it’s because it was the product of not just one, but several longtime friendships.
Of course, there are Thomas Heyne and Mario Hertel, the hotel’s operators, who have run the island’s famed Paradise Club since 2004 and been friends for some 15 years. But there’s also Design Hotels™ CEO Claus Sendlinger, who like Heyne grew up in Augsburg, where the two men became friends as teenagers. Then add in Serdar Kutucu, who worked with Heyne in the nightlife business a decade ago, as well as Serdar’s wife, designer Annabell Kutucu, also from Augsburg, whom the men have all known for decades.
“It’s so funny—the whole thing is like people who were hanging out 25 years ago, going out into the world, doing their things, and then coming back together on this project!”
We headed down to San Giorgio with some of our friends at Freunde von Freunden as the season began to get a closer look.
